Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in the year 1983, upon the initiative of a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis, with half of these beneficiaries being women.

Interventions of the "Noor" Program for Gaza Orphans up to January 2025

At the onset of the war on Gaza in 2023, Taawon, in partnership with Bank of Palestine Group, launched the third phase of its orphan care program, "Noor." The program aims to provide comprehensive support to 20,000 children who lost one or both parents due to the war on Gaza in 2023-2024. Spanning 18 years, with an estimated budget of $378 million, Noor is designed to ensure orphans live with dignity while safeguarding their rights to education, healthcare, psychological support, and social care.

The Hashemite Charitable Organization and Taawon: A Strategic Partnership to Support Palestine and the Health Sector in Gaza

Amman – February 5, 2025 – His Royal Highness Prince Rashed bin Al Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, welcomed representatives from Taawon to discuss ways to strengthen mutual cooperation and solidify the strategic partnership between the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and Taawon. The meeting followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties to support various fields, with a particular focus on initiatives that bolster the health sector in Gaza.

Taawon Hosts Sectoral and Regional Workshops to Strengthen Sustainable Development and Palestinian Resilience

Amid mounting challenges in Palestine, Taawon organized a series of sectoral and regional workshops targeting institutions across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and Palestinian communities within 1948 areas. These workshops, which engaged over 200 Palestinian organizations from diverse sectors, aim to position Taawon as a comprehensive platform connecting local and international stakeholders to foster a cohesive developmental vision.

Taawon and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) Sign MoU to Support Gaza's Healthcare Sector

Amman, Jordan – Taawon has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to provide logistical support for the delivery of mobile health clinics and medical equipment to Gaza. This partnership is part of joint efforts to assist those affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Hussein Al-Shebli, Secretary General of JHCO, and Dr. Tareq Emtairah, Director General of Taawon.

Amman, Jordan – In a significant step towards bolstering healthcare services for those affected by the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Tareq Emtairah Director General of Taawon, and Mr. Wael Suleiman, Director General of Caritas Jordan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. This agreement aims to support the Mobile Clinics Initiative in the Gaza Strip.

Birzeit – Palestine: Taawon and The Palestinian Museum, announced today the launch of the book Jerusalem in the Mamluk Era: History and Architecture by Dr. Nazmi Al-Jubeh, along with an accompanying exhibition curated by Eyad Issa titled Mamluk Jerusalem, inspired by the chapters of the book and revolves around its themes and concepts.

The book is published by Taawon, implemented under the supervision of the Jerusalem Old Cities Revitalization Program, and funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.
